Basket Ball is a popular and fast running team game.It is played on a rectangular court 15 m by 28 m.Ability to shoot the ball through a ring basket is the key skill,although a coordinated team effort is generally vital for success.Basket ball can be played outdoor or indoor,but Intervarsity and National games are generally played indoors.For International matches or competitions length of the court shall be 28 mts and width 15 mts and the height of the ceiling should be at least 7 mts for indoor competitions proper ventilation and lighting arrangement should be made.
The pole is placed in the center of an area approximately 7.5 m in daimeter.The free throw line has a width of 6 m at the base line and 3.60 m at the free throw line.The distance between the base line and the free throw line is 5.80 m.The latter forms and diameters of the circumscribed circle.The upright along with back board and ring should be at a distance of 1 m from the outer edge of the end lines and 1.20 m from the base line in to the court.As these should be clearly visible to declare,these should be of bright colour.The board is made either of wood or fiber glass.It is 1.20 m in length,1.80 m in width and 3 cm in thickness.The surface smooth and of white colour.A basket ball is fastened to be back board at a height 3.05 m from the ground.A rectangle 0.59 m horizontally and 0.45 m vertically is drawn above the opening of the basket to keep in throwing the ball in the basket.
