BADMINTON;


                         Badminton is a game which is played with a racket and a shuttle cock is light,the game can be easily disturbed by wind.So all competitive games are held in indoor halls.For training purposes matches can be played in the open.As it requires a small area,provision for this game can easily be made along with other games in the open.The indoor halls have a floor of wooden planks or synthetic courts of approved specifications and materials.It has a number of windows to admit natural light.Proper lighting arrangement is also made.It should not produce glare or cast shadows as to interfere in the concentration of the players.Any wind from the windows or otherwise should not disturb the game.A shape of at least 2 m should be left between the boundary wall and the base line.The court can be used both for singles and doubles.It is 13.40 m long and 6.70   m wide.The court is divided in to two parts,each side being 6.70 m long.

                The side line of 0.46 m on each side of the width is for doubles.For singles,this area is not included.The rear service line is for doubles.These two service lines are 0.76 m apart.The front service line short service line is at a distance of 1.98 m from the net.The area between the short service line and the rear service line for singles is equally divided.These are the left and right service courts.The ground should be marked in yellow or white and the width of the lines should be 40 mm.The net is 6.10 m long and 76 cm wide.It is made of cord of 1.9 cm mesh.It is fixed on the centre line.The upper edge of the net is 1.55 m and the minimum distance of net at its centre is 1.52 m from the ground.The two parts holding the net are fixed outside the boundary line of the court.The posts are made of suitable material so that they can hold the net in its stretched position.
